Oct 21 News: October is our favourite colour…

Oct 5, 2021 | News roundup

Hi everyone!

Well, it’s definitely become more autumnal now with the nights drawing in, a nip in the air, and the sun staying lower in the sky. But we have an amazing display of leaf colour changes to look forward to…all phenomena we have as a shared experience with our ancestors going back thousands of years!

Forest Garden

Our Forest Garden is slowly evolving and we’ve been able to pick blackberries, cox apples and damson plums this month. Thanks to Bex and Candida who have been volunteering to help keep on top of things, and Dermot has just planted some water plants in the larger of the two ponds. The smaller pond was planted up in the spring and has now really flourished and the sea buckthorn hedge has filled out nicely. Red current, black currant and blueberry bushes are just about to get planted, as well as the beginnings of our groundcover plants. Our neighbour, who looks out across the paddock from their house, told us the other day they call it the ‘Fairy Garden’…

Summer 2022

Now our Wild Camping and Green Heart gathering space season is drawing to a close, we’re looking ahead and accepting group bookings for next summer. Weddings, birthday and anniversary celebrations have become popular here as people increasingly want to gather in natural world spaces for these occasions. So get in touch to get something booked up if you want to experience the beauty of the landscape here next year with your friends and family. We’re already filling up fast for 2022 so we recommend booking your stay sooner rather than later…

Caravan, Campervan & Vehicle Storage

We now have facilities available to store undercover vehicles and towing items in secure premises on the farm throughout the year. With winter approaching and the camping season drawing to an end, contact Ed on 07966 510552 or email at chesterbladehills@gmail.com to book a space.

Workspaces Now Available

We now have workspaces available to rent for creatives and makers in light airy studios from £500/mth with plenty of parking and stunning countryside views. We still have a couple left so get in touch with Anna on 07787 154136 or email chesterbladehills@gmail.com if you’re interested. Here’s a link to a brochure

The Cosmic Calendar

We are currently in the Ivy tree month of the Celtic Calendar. As the year comes to a close and Samhain approaches, the Ivy moon rolls in at the end of the harvest season and invites a time of reflection on the losses and gains of the year. Ivy often lives on after its host plant has died — a reminder to us that life goes on, in the endless cycle of life, death and rebirth.
